Elan Valley Hotel

Built as a Victorian Fishing Lodge, our family-run hotel is on the doorstep of the magnificent Elan Valley, and at the heart of Mid-Wales. We aim to provide comfort and good value in an easy-going atmosphere for all kinds of guests in all kinds of weather! We warmly welcome families, and offer a very friendly and flexible service. Relax and enjoy our excellent food, prepared with an emphasis on local, fresh ingredients a mouth-watering selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes simply cooked with a Mediterranean flavour. Delicious home-baked teas are served in the tea-room, and in our two well-stocked bars real ales and malt whiskies are a speciality. 

This is a perfect base from which to explore the magical 'Lakeland of Wales' - mile upon mile of open water reflecting the richly coloured landscape of mountain, streams, moorland, mighty dams, woodland, waterfalls and bog! Home to the rare and beautiful Red Kite, this wildly rugged place abounds with birds, animals and varied plant life. just two miles from the charming historic market town of Rhayader, this is a peaceful haven where life can be taken at a pace that suits you. For the more energetic there are many activities available - hill walking, bird watching safaris, pony trekking, canoeing and mountain biking! And for those wanting to rest and unwind there is nowhere more tranquil or beautiful.

Off Road Biking Breaks

These Breaks are designed for the recreational cyclist or those who have not been on a bike for years, but who have always thought that off-roading looks rather fun .... 

They are run by Pippa, one of the Hotel owners, who is a keen cyclist both on and off road and has trained as a mountain bike leader. Basic off-road skills are mastered so that you can quickly experience the spectacular countryside in the most satisfying way.

Winding tracks alongside bubbling rivers, sheep paths over the moors and the most fantastic views across the Elan lakes, dropping down to the new Elan Trail, all taken at a gentle pace with plenty of 'view stops' and picnic or pub lunch.

Returning to the Hotel for home baked cakes, a relaxing bath or shower and then to meet in the friendly Farmers Bar for a well deserved drink before a delicious and substantial supper. Bring your own bike, or hire one from our local bike shop. 

Conferences at the Elan Valley Hotel

There is a choice of three conference rooms: 

The Kites Nest:- Informal lounge with sofas and chairs. Real fire in the winter months. For up to 25 delegates

The Leaves Room:- large bright room, furnished with tables and chairs. For up to 35 delegates 

The Village Room:- Function room, suitable for larger meetings or workshops. For 30 to 100 delegates 

Special Activity Breaks

In addition to bicycling weekends throughout the year, storytelling, Mushroom Foraging, Raptor Rambles and others are available.
